Monster bees!

Today was my niece's baptism at the beautiful Robertson-Wesley United church in downtown Edmonton. I've decided that I need to shoot a wedding there... but anyway, I snapped a few photos of various friends and family, but I was totally taken with the mammoth bumble bees hanging around outside. Here's a few bee shots for fun!

Wedding photography site revamped!

It was time for an update - check out the new weddings site! Tell me what you think!

I can't help but keep changing things, but I think it looks even better!

Lisa and Justin eloped!

This past Friday, July 11 (yes, free slurpee day, but I was too busy taking pictures for that!), I got to sneak away with Lisa and Justin as they eloped to Edmonton! Besides getting to photograph such a sweet couple, I also got to sign off on the marriage as witness! I've never done that before! Very cool! Here are a few of my favourites from the day, and check out the rest on the slideshow at http://www.envphotography.com/lisajustineloped.html

Karla and Darrell's wedding!

On June 28, 2008 I had the pleasure of photographing Karla and Darrell's wedding in Edmonton. They were great fun and they all looked stunning that day! Here are a few of my favourite shots from the day. Check out some more on the slideshow at West end Edmonton wedding

Portraits 2: The Engagement Files

Since the last "Portraits" session went so well, I've decided to do another one, but with engagement sessions!

You can get more details on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=24141825129&ref=share.

If you don't have Facebook, e-mail me at elizabeth@envphotography.com for more info!

Here's the description listed on the Facebook event:

Just like the previous Portraits in the Park session, we are taking over a small section of Downtown Edmonton for free 25 minute engagement sessions!

Not engaged? This would be a great time to pop the question and have me be there to photograph it!

Wedding coming soon? Get some great photos of the two of you together to make a great photo guestbook!

The catch?? I get to use your photos for my website and portfolio! It gives me a chance to get creative, without a lot of pressure. And that's it! There's no obligation to buy anything, I just want to take photos! A model release is needed so that I can use the photos on my website.

Why choose Beaver Hills House Park? It is a park setting, but gives me easy access to parking garages, alleyways and dirty brick walls for awesome backgrounds! This session is going to be a little more urban!

So, tell your friends who are getting married, or couples that you think should be getting married, to book a free photo session!

If you do want to have copies of the files or want to buy prints from the session, prices are as follows (discounted from regular prices for this special event):

10 things you didn't know about me

Inspired by a post by Jamie of Burnett Photography on the OSP forum, I decided to play along and list 10 things you probably don't know about me.
So, here we go!

1. I hate when people use elipses incorrectly (...)! It drives me crazy!
2. The ENV portion of ENV Photography stands for Elizabeth Nancy van der Bij - now you know my horrible middle name.
3. My favourite food in the whole world is dill pickles, seriously.
4. I am terrified of moose. I have nightmares about being chased up velcro trees by velcro moose. It's horrible!
5. I have a small army of cats (that I adore) named after the characters in the Lemony Snicket's series - Sunny, Klaus, Violet and Olaf.
6. My favourite movie ever is the Lost boys, with Monster Squad as a close second - 1987 was a good year!
7. Until I was 16, I wanted to be a lawyer when I grew up - glad that phase passed!
8. My favourite band of all time is Cock Sparrer.
9. I am a big Harry Potter fanatic!
10. I named my first BMX bike Milo.

So, now you know a little more about me... care to share a few tidbits about you??

I'm lonely

So i'm on a week of vacation from my regular day job, and you'd think i'd be super excited, except my honey is on tour with his band and I am left home alone to toil in my office in the basement. Yes, I'm getting work done and the army of cats are keeping me company, but it's weird to go to bed alone and wake up alone :( Four more sleeps 'til Derek comes back home!! I'm going to go talk to a wall now, or something...
